This is a first attempt at writing a story set in the Chakat Universe created by Bernard Doove.    The irritating sound of the bedside alarm clock roused the sleeping Chakat from hir peaceful slumber. Shi groaned as shi rolled on to her side and reached over to shut the thing off. Shi laid there for a moment after, chewing hir lower lip as shi rubbed the sand out of hir eyes. “Alice, lights up. Shi said, hir voice laden with grogginess.
